Police received advice from a member of the public that a teenage boy had made some threats to attack the Balaclava Primary School today.
The school activated their lockdown procedures upon receiving this information and police have been on site since approximately 12.30pm today.
Police are assisting with the collecting of students from the stop drop and go zone in McCoombe Street, Earlville for those students who are normally collected from this area.
The school is making contact with the families of students who normally walk home and arrangements are being made for them to get home safely.
Cairns CIB and CPIU detectives are investigating this matter and will provide advice upon any outcomes.
Police and school actions have prevented an incident at the school.
There is no further information at hand at this time and no persons have been injured.
